POLICY

Nowadays the kind Russian of dark and gothic music is trying to grow up, but we can noticed that it's still has the low professional level rather hard to find interesting and unordinary music. As far as it's strange but the most famous people of European and American gothic music are almost unknown for Russian listeners.

There are a lot of reasons for this. Very high prices for CDs from Europe, States and other counrties, poor information about this kind of scene, rather bad work of post offices, extraordinary charges for the delivery of CDs for Russian buyers, hard to find some releases in musical shops, and the most simple - don't have opportunity to use internet.

Nowadays Shadowplay Release is just trying to release the music which we can call "Music above the time", to fill the music vacuum which are, to inform as many Russian people as it's possible and to acquaint our audience with young and talented musicians.

And the main purpose of the Company is to release Russian bands and to promote them to the world gothic scene.

Our priorities still are:
- easy to find releases;
- to promote foreign uncommercial music in Russia and Russian gothic music in whole over the world;
- to look for Russian bands and to release their materials;
- to defend author's rights of the bands which are released by Shadowplay Release.

HISTORY

Shadowplay Release was formed on the base of the Russian independent resource about dark scene Shadowplay.ru.

In 2004 the frontman of the most known projects of the Russian dark scene Moon Far Away Alexei M. Sheptunov got an idea to make a compilation of Russian dark scene "Colours of Black". The work was under control by Shdowplay.ru. During the half in a year the webzine was collecting a material and after hard choosing, there was only the one question "How to make it come true?" Shadowplay.ru has been released as a label Shadowplay Release to defend interests of musicians, their copyrights and to promote them.

The first release was double compilation "Colours of Black" which collected the best musicians of the Russian dark scene at that moment, from gothic-rock and darkwave till industrial and apocalyptic folk. The presentation of the compilation became as the first Russian festival of the motherland dark scene. The compilation received favorable reviews in Russia and abroad and was sold out without any promotion.

After correspondence with Trev Bamford, the chief of the cult British gothic label Nightbreed Recordings gave an agreement to release two licensed CDs of Midnight Configuration and Intra-Venus in Russia. It's confirmed expectancies of the label to release uncommercial and underground music.

After these releases a lot of bands which took part in compilation have a wish to be released by Shadowplay Release.

At the beginning of the 2005 the company has got five contracts with foreign and Russian musicians.
